Hoy he elegido un fotograma de The road, película basada en la maravillosa novela de Cormac McCarthy que ganó el premio Pulitzer en el 2007.
En el libro la única referencia a un piano aparece cuando padre e hijo encuentran un piano de cola en una de las casas que visitan en búsqueda de alimentos y tesoros inesperados:
“They entered the drawing room. The shape of a carpet beneath the silty ash. Furniture shrouded in sheeting. Pale squares on the walls where paintings once had hung. In the room on the other side of the foyer stood a grand piano. Their own shapes sectioned in the thin and watery glass of the window there. They entered and stood listening. They wandered through the rooms like skeptical housebuyers. They stood looking out through the tall windows at the darkening land.”
En la película, sin embargo es curioso que se usa el piano como un elemento narrativo relativamente importante ya que el personaje interpretado por Charlize Theron toca el piano y se usa como uno de los hilos conductores en los flash-backs. En la escena que he elegido encuentran ese piano del que se habla en la novela y Viggo Mortensen toca unos acordes antes de recordarle a su hijo que su madre tocaba bastante bien.
